The Squash Lake Association was awarded a $4000 grant from the Sokaogon Chippewa Community (Mole Lake) to assist in our efforts in Clean Boats Clean Waters, Eurasian Water Milfoil Control, and lake habitat preservation. The award ceremony at the Mole Lake Lodge in Mole Lake, Tuesday January 19, 2016 was attended by Dan Butkus, association President, and Janet Appling, a Squash Lake resident and association member. Squash Lake was one of only five lake groups in Oneida, Forest, and Langlade Counties to receive a grant from the Sokaogon in 2016.
The Squash Lake Association wishes to thank the Sokaogon Chippewa Community, Tribal Chair Chris McGeshick, and Sokaogon Fisheries Biologist Mike Preul, for their generosity and commitment to ongoing relations between us, and for their support of our efforts on Squash Lake.
Upcoming joint projects between the Sokaogon Chippewa Community and the Squash Lake Association will be posted soon.
