$1000 Challenge for Squash Lake

August 6, 2011                                                                                                                                    by Karen Isebrands-Brown

Squash Lake Association will receive a $1,000 challenge award from Wisconsin Public Service to be used for the purpose of paying the divers to remove the Eurasian Milfoil from our lake, if the residents of Squash Lake are willing to do the following:

*Install 10 weatherization kits (provided by WPS) in our community. Please volunteer    your home or recruit a neighbor.

*At least 10 Squash Lake community members must sign up and attempt to reduce their energy usage by 5% in September, October, and November 2011 (over their energy usage in those same months in 2010). Please volunteer or recruit a neighbor.

*SLA must host an energy speaker at one of our SLA meetings.  The speaker has been scheduled to speak at our August 15th board meeting at Pat Dugan’s home @ 6:30.   Everyone is welcome.

I think everyone will agree that this is an easy way to earn $1,000 for our lake to use to help eradicate the Eurasian Milfoil from Squash Lake.  Please volunteer to be a part of this effort.

I have applied for this grant from WPS and I am looking forward to your response to fulfill SLA’s requirements.  Please email me at kisebrow@gmail.com with your questions or commitment.  Thank you.
